FireBall Fight

Updated 4 min read

FireBall Fight is a fast 2-team arena minigame (Red vs. Blue) where fireballs and TNT are your main weapons. Just like BedWars, each team has its own bed: as long as it stands, you simply respawn after every death — once it's destroyed, the next death is final, and you become a spectator. The last team with any players remaining wins.

Teams and player count

There are always exactly 2 teams (Red and Blue). Matches scale up to about 2v2 depending on how many players are queued. At least 2 players need to be online for a lobby countdown to start at all.

Lobby

Once enough players are ready, a 120-second lobby countdown runs before the round starts. Higher-ranked players can shorten it with /start.

Beds and elimination

Destroying the enemy bed is one of the most important actions in the game and is well rewarded — you can't destroy your own bed, and each bed can only fall once. While your bed still stands, dying just sends you back to your team spawn with a fresh kit and a couple of seconds of invulnerability. Once your bed is gone, your next death turns you into a permanent spectator for the rest of the match — though you still get a small consolation reward for it.

Starting kit

On every respawn (while your bed still stands) you automatically get: a Stone Sword, a Stone Pickaxe, Shears, 2 Cobwebs, 8 Ladders, 2 TNT, 6 Fire Charges, 8 End Stone, and 64 team-colored Wool, plus automatically equipped (unbreakable) leather armor in your team color.

Fireballs — your signature weapon

Right-click with a Fire Charge in hand to launch it like a thrown fireball, aimed wherever you're looking. It doesn't set anything on fire, but it packs a strong knockback punch — great for shoving enemies off ledges or straight into the void. Hits on teammates or yourself deal no damage (no friendly fire), and hits on enemies deal reduced direct damage but keep their full knockback. That makes fireballs mainly a shove tool rather than a pure damage weapon. You only get 6 per life with no way to restock, so aim carefully.

TNT

Right-click a placed TNT block while holding TNT to arm it with a short, roughly 2-second fuse. Its knockback is noticeably weaker than a fireball's, but that makes it better suited for blocking off an area or defending your own bed, since you can time exactly when it goes off. Same rule applies here: no damage against your own team. You get 2 per life.

Building

You can freely place your team wool, end stone, cobwebs, and ladders (up to a height limit set per map) to build bridges, cover, or defenses. Only blocks placed during the match can be broken again — the map's original terrain is explosion-proof.

Arena hazards

Falling off the bottom of the map means an instant elimination for that life, no matter how many fireballs or TNT you have left — so be extra careful near edges, especially right after getting hit. Normal fall damage is completely disabled; only fireballs, TNT, melee combat, and falling into the void can hurt you.

Rewards

Destroying the enemy bed earns a solid coin and EXP reward, a kill earns somewhat less, a final elimination earns a small consolation reward, and winning earns by far the biggest reward for the whole winning team.

Tips for beginners

  • Fireballs are your best tool for pushing enemies off the map — aim for edges and drop-offs.
  • TNT works better for defending your own bed or blocking a doorway, since you can time exactly when it explodes.
  • You only get 6 fireballs and 2 TNT with no resupply, so don't waste them — take the time to line up a good shot.
  • Split roles with your team: have one player push to break the enemy bed while another guards your own.
  • Once your bed is destroyed, play more carefully — your next death is final.
