Impressum Privatschutz
With Impressum-Privatschutz, you can protect your privacy online while still meeting the legal requirements of Germany's Digital Services Act (DDG). Don't want your private home address listed publicly in your imprint, privacy policy, or right-of-withdrawal notice, but still need a legally sound solution? Impressum-Privatschutz provides you with a legally valid business address in Hamburg, without exposing your personal details.
What actually counts as a "legally valid" address?
Not every address listed in an imprint meets the legal bar. For an address to be valid for service of process, it has to be a real street address (a PO box doesn't qualify), the person has to be genuinely reachable there, and mail has to be accepted in person – for example by a staffed reception desk. Courts have repeatedly ruled that pure mail-forwarding services without real premises do not meet this requirement, which can expose website owners to costly cease-and-desist letters.
How the service works
You get a c/o address with your own customer number at the Hamburg location (e.g. c/o IP-Management (customer number), Ludwig-Erhard-Str. 18, 20459 Hamburg), which you then use in your imprint, privacy policy, right-of-withdrawal notice, invoice address, and similar mandatory disclosures. Incoming mail is accepted in person at reception and forwarded to you either as the original or digitally, depending on your preference. According to the provider, setup only takes a few minutes after online identity verification.
